Plant a seed and Pull a weed day!

On our social media, we posted “Plant a Seed, Pull a Weed Day” asking for volunteers to come and help out in our garden area. We had a great turnout, and it was amazing to see people from our community come out and participate on a sunny Friday afternoon in December. We so appreciate volunteers coming and enjoying the afternoon with some of our staff working together. It was amazing to see the garden transformed and the ground being prepared for planting. I can hear the little seedlings saying “Plant me, plant me”.Watching our garden start with plain dirt and transform into a lush green variety of vegetables is amazing, knowing that we will be able to serve those vegetables to our local community gives us great pride. Thank you again to the volunteers who are coming to work in our garden and pantry areas, we appreciate and value your involvement with Our Neighbors Farm and Pantry.

During our labor tearing the weeds out of the ground in the Pumpkin patch we found actual pumpkins! It was marvelous to see pumpkins still growing in December. this young man got to claim dibs on the remaining pumpkins and take them home to be carved as well as use them for target practice.
