Meet The London Rocket
"Knowing is Half the Battle" is a famous quote from G.I. Joe that emphasizes the importance of knowledge in achieving success.
Recently, our garden has been invaded by winter annual herbs called Sisymbrium irio, commonly known as The London Rocket. These invasive weeds are a species of hedge mustard belonging to the Brassicaceae family, also known as the cabbage family, and were first documented by the English after The Great Fire of London in 1666.
To prevent the spread of these weeds, it is important to act now, while the soil is still moist from the recent rain. Pulling these weeds before they start blooming yellow flowers is the best way to stop them from spreading their seeds and taking over the garden.
